Crystals

I have listed my favourite Crystals in alphabetical order to make it easier for you and I am sure there will be new ones added as we go along

Garnet

Similar to Rubies, Garnets are believed to attract wealth. They say keep a piece in your purse and your purse will never be empty. Garnets and Rubies have adorned royal crowns and sepulchres for centuries. They are found the world over to represent opulence and good fortune.

Magically both are used in spell craft for these very reasons, attracting good fortune and wealth. Confidence to make good business decisions and prosper. Garnets and Rubies give one plenty of reasons to be grateful.

Known as the ‘daydreamer’, Garnet is believed to regenerate body systems – especially the bloodstream where it is also a good purifier. It is also strongly associated with the balancing of sex drive and emotional disharmony. It is believed to be aligned to the base chakra. It can bring love, compassion and an enhanced imagination.

It helps to strengthen those who willingly attune to it and wear it. It can warn of approaching danger and forces us to make honourable commitments and decisions.

The deep red colour of Garnets has fascinated humankind for millennia coming in a variety of shades, compositions and sizes. There is the gem quality of translucent deep red Garnet with some of the best coming from Sri Lanka. Then there is the family group of Garnets known as silicate minerals. These include Pyrope (Rhodolite Garnet), Almandine, Spessartine, Andradite, Grossular and Uvarovite. As the mineral composition changes, so does the energetic qualities (even if slightly).

All garnets are considered lucky. They are carried in wallets and purses to bring wealth. They are worn to ward off negative attack and protect the owner. They are considered passionate, sexual and emotional often placed on the base chakra during a healing.

Hematite

Hematite is seen as the sacred blood of Mother Earth and has been valued for longer than any other mineral.

Hematite is a common mineral formed from iron-rich water. Crystals are uncommon; more often hematite forms kidney-shaped masses. The high iron content of the mineral makes an important industrial source of iron. In its metallic form, it was and still is used for jewellery and ornaments, but most precious is the fine-grained ochre – an earthy iron-rich compound used then and still to this day as a sacred red pigment. With its iron content, hematite has a strengthening influence on the physical body – especially the blood, body temperature and circulatory system. Of all the grounding stones, hematite is perhaps the surest – very few people fail to be brought down to a steady, focused state due to its stabilising influence on the physical body.

Traditionally, iron was held to be the only protection against the Faerie Kingdoms (think of Maleficent and how she was burned at the touch of iron), and today, hematite will prevent you from being taken “away with the fairies” or to use another colloquialism for an unfocused mind – feeling “spaced out”. When used by a fully balanced personality, hematite can provide access to spirit travel and astral worlds.

Note: Some will tell you that it is magnetic and that this is a natural insert, but this is NOT the case. When it is magnetic it has been manufactured in a laboratory and not naturally.

Lapis Lazuli

Lapis Lazuli is the stone of the ancient ones, used by magicians through the ages. Powdered Lazurite is a source of the ultramarine pigment and is used in oil or egg tempera for painting. This stone is the reflection of the universe, with the tiny flecks of Pyrite being the stars. Used extensively in jewellery inlay, it is often worn around the throat or the heart chakra. It is used for protection, bonding loved ones and friendship. The richly adorned collars and necklaces of the pharaohs were heavily inlaid with Lapis. This stone is said to be given to the children of man from the Children of God – the Angels! It is said to be a message or gift from before time began. It has the ability to give the wearer understanding of the sacred texts hidden within accessible scrolls and books which are constantly coming to light. It changes the reality of the wearer by opening a higher awareness, lifting the vibration and thus connecting you to the fibres of source.

Lapis placed on the brow allows insight into our dreams and can help to develop astral travel.  It supports courage in working toward spiritual development and alerts you to a psychic attack, returning it 'to whence it came'.  It is used for supporting the immune system and to strengthen the cellular structure.

Larimar

Larimar is also known as the Dolphin Stone, the Goddess Stone, Atlantis Stone, (Blue Pectolite) and is found in one location in the world, on the island of Hispaniola in the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean Sea. It is said that this stone carries the energy of the Goddess in her many forms, from high up in the sky, down into the deepest sea. This divine feminine energy soothes, heals, transforms and gives life. It gives life to not just children but ideas, notions and voice. This stone breaks down barriers, smashes blockages and patterns and then re-creates them better, stronger and faster. It is worn as jewellery on the throat chakra and higher heart chakra.  It is effective for communicating your truth, healing emotional pain fast and expresses itself creatively through the wearer’s ability to channel communication and accomplish the soul’s path and purpose with mindfulness.

These incredible minerals instil a sense of peace in your home bringing a sense of calm and love. They are used for ‘cellular cleansing’ and help us to believe in ourselves, ridding us of guilt or frustrations locked in the memory.  They are gentle enough to be used in a nursery to calm a stressful child.  Place some on a shelf in the room, out of reach, and do not allow dust to gather on them.  Alternatively, you could hang a piece above the cot or bed.

It is an incredible asset for meditation particularly if you sit on a blue floor, cloth or cushion. This surrounds you with the higher vibrational colour of the angels.  Hold your Larimar against your skin.  Some have found whilst meditating with Larimar they feel the urge to sing, to let energy out gently and calmly. The voice of the Dolphin comes through and causes deep healing to take place.  I have noticed more and more female healers using this method with sound healing and Larimar intuitively.

Labradorite

Forty years ago, if you were lucky enough to come across a piece of Labradorite it would have looked like a piece of sparkly hard coal or granite. We never saw it polished and healers would say that it was the most magical of minerals although it didn’t appear quite so. Labradorite in its raw state was ‘interesting’, mysterious and thought provoking but only the most sensitive were truly able to feel its potential. The first polished pieces came much later and once you saw the flash of incredible labradorescence you knew that everything that was felt needed multiplying by a thousand times. The mystery of Labradorite lies in it’s fascinating molecular structure that consists of many micro fine layers that seem to trap and refract the light. Held under a light source and moved around the light catches from certain angles and shafts of rainbow colours blaze brightly. Incredible interference colours that flash and move and dance, and as quick as they are found they are gone. Spectacular displays of scattering light.

A shaman performing a healing would take a piece of polished Labradorite and wave it around the aura concentrating on the Ladradorescence, where it shines and flashes and more importantly where it does not. From this humbly respectful way of using the Labradorite much information can be gathered. Where Rainbow Moonstone represents the Moon Goddess, Goddess of light, Labradorite represents the Dark Moon Goddess. She who is unseen, the dark side of the moon that never shows its face.

Things from your past, that are buried deep within the psyche, emotions that are hidden, fears, guilt, loss, addictions, abuse etc are bundled up in tight energy balls or pockets and carried in the aura. They weigh you down and feed on your insecurities, weakness and anxieties. They keep you small, stop you enjoying your path and in extreme circumstance can make you very ill.

Labradorite is said to bring the wearer a wealth of wisdom and understanding. It is used to heal ‘too much head energy’ and ground the activity of an overactive mind. It also aids menstrual tension and balances the hormones. With patience and trust labradorite can assist you in determinedly letting go of the ‘things’ that no longer serve you well. It is customarily worn as a piece of jewellery around the neck and, for meditations, held in the leading hand.

Golden Labradorite

Golden Labradorite is quite rare and unique. It is a gorgeous yellow like the sun in colour and is full of positivity. It is the crystal to use when you need to dig deep and pull something out of nothing. This crystal is considered masculine by nature and has the power to create change. Not one for the faint hearted as you must be careful what you wish for with this crystal. If you are looking for change or movement then here is your man, but you will have no say in how you get there. One minute you will be wishing or longing for something and the next minute your world will change and you will wonder what on Earth is going on. Of course, it is not on Earth that the real change is happening but in the universe around you. Golden Labradorite will help you let go of all your unwanted baggage, will move obstacles and ignite your verve.

Golden Labradorite helps you find your purpose, decipher the divine order and find clarity of mind. Like the golden sun, the energy of Golden Labradorite is warm and comforting and suits many who are searching and seeking the mysteries. It pushes many out of their comfort zone and entices them into movement. One day, you will look back and say it was wonderful to speculate and dream the possibilities and absolutely amazing upon arrival, but the journey was nothing that was expected.

Moonstone

Rainbow Moonstone is one of my favourite stones and in fact I wore this beautiful stone on my wedding day. I designed my tiara and had Rainbow Moonstone incorporated within the design. It honours the Goddess in all women and on my wedding day I definitely felt like a goddess. This stone helps women (and men) to be more comfortable with their gentler feminine (yin) receiving side. This stone is also an excellent remedy for overly aggressive females or for men who need to connect to their more feminine/emotional side. Its connection to the moon has been documented for centuries.

Because of its shimmering, glossy nature its colour plays off the light as does the moon. Like the moon as it waxes and wanes, this reflective stone allows us the lesson that everything is a part of the cycle of change. Moonstone is considered the stone of “new beginnings” - perfect for a wedding don't you think?

Moonstone is most famous for balancing our emotional states. Emotional states are connected to the water element, which are connected to the cycles of the moon and tides and therefore, has a strong relationship to a women’s menstrual cycle. Therefore, moonstone is one of the best stones for soothing emotional stress and anxiety. Moonstone helps cool, soothe and calm over-reactions to emotional and personal situations. It allows us greater flexibility and flow with life.

Moonstone’s emotional connection makes it most effective when placed at the 2nd or Sacral Chakra. Known to be of ancient spiritual significance in its connection to the moon and the intuitive aspect of one’s nature, the source of our intuition is often described as our “gut feeling” found at the Solar Plexus Chakra.

Moldavite

Moldavite fell as a meteorite or comet impacting on Stuttgart, Germany. The impact was so colossal that the intense heat of the meteorite and speed intensified by gravity, transformed the surface rock around the site of impact and together this was thrown across the Czech Republic. This is estimated to have happened approximately 14.8 million years ago. This is how geologists explain the glassy, dark green appearance of these stones. Nasa has reported that the tiny bubbles seen in the stone have been tested and come from outside our atmosphere. This supports claims that this crystal is definitely extra-terrestrial in nature.  Healers say that the energy of Moldavite is among the most powerful in the mineral kingdom.

Moldavite’s high vibration can clear and open blockages in any of the chakras. It accelerates spiritual growth as well as increases our access to inner guidance. It is an excellent meditation stone, often used at the heart, third eye and crown chakras.

In legend, Moldavite has been associated with the fabled stone of the Holy Grail, which was said to be an Emerald that fell from the sky. This is truly a gift from the heavens. So far, there has only been one recorded find of Moldavite and there will come a time when it has all been used up. It is primarily for this reason, that over the years, the price of this curious mineral has steadily risen and continues to rise.
